Privacy Policy
Last updated October 24, 2026
Royal Coins isn't in the App Store yet. This policy describes how it will handle your information when it's released, and we'll update it before then if anything changes.
Royal App Labs (“we”, “us”) makes Royal Coins, an app for cataloging a coin collection on iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what information Royal Coins uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.
The Short Version
- Your collection lives on your devices and in your own iCloud account. We can't see it.
- There's no account to make and nothing to sign in to.
- Coin photos leave your device only when you ask the AI to identify a coin, and our server deletes them as soon as that's done.
- We don't track you, sell your information, or share it with advertisers.
Your Collection
Everything you add to Royal Coins (your coins, their photos, grades, values, and notes, and where you keep them) is stored on your device and in your private iCloud database, so it appears on each device signed in to your Apple Account. Apple stores it under Apple's privacy policy, and it counts toward your iCloud storage. We have no access to it.
If you choose to share your collection with someone through iCloud, the people you invite can see and change it until you stop sharing.
Identifying Coins With AI
Royal Coins can identify and grade a coin from its photos using Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. This happens only when you tap Identify With AI and confirm. The first time, the app asks your permission.
- Royal Coins sends that coin's photos, and anything you've already told the app about the coin, to our server, which passes them to Anthropic.
- Anthropic uses them to produce the answer. Anthropic doesn't use your coin photos to train its AI models.
- Our server deletes the photos as soon as the analysis ends. It keeps the answer only until your device collects it, or for 30 days if it never does.
- We keep a record of each analysis, without its photos or its answer (when it ran and what it cost), to charge credits correctly and keep our costs down.
Prices And Coin Details
To show what your coins are worth, Royal Coins sends our server a coin's description, such as its year, mint mark, denomination, grade, and catalog number, but nothing about you. Our server looks up prices from price guides and keeps them in a cache shared by everyone who uses Royal Coins. Today's gold, silver, and other metal prices come from our server too.
Credits And Purchases
You can buy credits for identifying coins with AI. Purchases go through Apple's App Store: Apple handles the payment, and we never see your name or payment details. Apple tells our server what you bought so it can keep your credit balance.
- Your balance belongs to a random account number that Royal Coins creates and keeps in your iCloud, not to your name, email address, or Apple Account.
- Royal Coins uses Apple's App Attest to show our server that requests come from the real app, and Apple's DeviceCheck so that free starter credits are given once per device. Neither tells us who you are.
- We keep records of purchases, refunds, and credits used, as accounting and the law require.
Ads
Royal Coins will show a few ads. They're not personalized: Royal Coins won't ask to track you, and it never shares your collection with advertisers. To show an ad and prevent fraud, the ad provider receives basic technical information, such as your device's IP address, model, operating system, and language. We'll name the ad provider here before ads appear.
The Camera And Your Photos
Royal Coins uses the camera only to photograph coins, while you're taking photos. When you add a picture from your photo library, Royal Coins receives only the pictures you pick. It doesn't use your location, contacts, or microphone.
Our Server's Logs
Like most online services, our server keeps short-term logs of requests, including IP addresses, to keep the service secure and to fix problems.
What We Don't Do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Royal Coins has no analytics or tracking tools of its own. If you've chosen in your device's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us crash reports, which don't identify you.
Deleting Your Information
- Delete coins in the app at any time; the change reaches your other devices through iCloud.
- To remove everything, tap Settings › Delete My Data in the app. It deletes your collection from your devices and iCloud, and our server deletes what it holds for your account number (your credit balance and history). Deleting the app alone removes the collection only from that device.
- Records the law requires us to keep, such as purchase records, are kept only as long as required. You can also write to us to ask for anything to be deleted.
Children
Royal Coins isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. We hold very little, but write to us and we'll help.
This Website
This website uses no cookies, analytics, or trackers. It's hosted by GitHub Pages, which records visitors' IP addresses for security.
Changes To This Policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change matters to how your information is used, we'll also say so in the app.
